Book
Fahrenheit 451
AboutÂ
"Fahrenheit 451" is a dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury that explores a society where books are banned and "firemen" burn them. The story follows Guy Montag, a fireman questioning the regime and the impact of censorship on intellectual freedom.
A visual metaphor in design captures the interest of readers to open the book and find out the meaning.
I was challenged to redesign the cover of a classic novel by taking the direction of "less obvious" elements and more metaphorical imagery.
My solution was taking paper strips to represent "free thinking", an element of the story's setting and having it burning across the cover into ashes. This represents the theme of "Fahrenheit 451" without being blatantly obvious of the main story's elements.
